Sailing like an ark in the middle of the virgin forests of the highest mountain in Kenya, Mount Kenya, the hotel's trees wood and offers clear mountain air-Champagne, panoramic views through the tree canopy, the crystal clear trout streams, forests and gentle walks. Located 2134 meters above sea level on the slopes of the mountain, the hotel is cool, calm and quiet for optimal game sightings. The air display free deck looks down at his own water well and salt lick that attracts herds of elephants and buffaloes. There is also a tunnel that leads to a picture of skin, which offers a spectacular view and photo opportunities within walking distance of the fauna in the water well.

Built on stilts above the forest canopy a wooden drawbridge leading from the jungle and even the "wood decks" of the lodge. Inside, the impression that a ship is perpetuated by a combination paneled wooden walls, wooden beams covered with game viewing and spiral staircase leading to a selection of perfectly comfortable, cabin-style rooms. Activities include guided hikes through the jungle, fishing for trout in clear mountain streams, travel to high mountain moorland, and luxury 5 days up the mountain.

Rooms and suites

Each room wooden house, cabin style, has its own private bathroom and a balcony luxury overlooking the private pond. The decor, which echoes the Kikuyu culture, features hand-woven wall hangings, soft lighting and cozy-warm furniture. Hot water bottles are provided at night. No smoking allowed in the hostel, due to the fact that it is wood construction, but a smoking area is provided on the roof terrace.

What to do and see in the Mountain Lodge

The building was constructed in 1855, but was significantly remodelled during Japanese occupation, resulting in the current hybrid Japanese-neoclassical form. Government House was the official residence of the Governor from 1855 to 1997, when the city was under British rule. 25 governors of Hong Kong, out of total 28, used this building as official residence.
